Safety

Users recognise the considerable risk of injury involved in the activities undertaken within this facility and participants use the facility at their own risk.

Ride Safely

EQUIPMENT

Before commencing your ride, make sure your bike is in good working condition and is suitable for the trails you plan to ride. Wear helmets, footwear and safety gear.

TRAIL DIRECTIONS

Please obey trail direction and follow the wayfinding signage. Do not ride the wrong way on the trails.

Familiarise yourself with the trail map before you ride. Visit the Trails page, download the trail map or the Trailforks app

SUPERVISION

Adult supervision is required at all times for children under 12 years of age.

REMOTENESS

The trails travel through remote terrain. Be prepared. Carry tools, water and mobile phone.
If riding alone it is wise to consider the use of EPIRBs or a personal locator beacon (PLB) and to carry basic first aid supplies. Let people know when and where you are riding.

WEATHER

Do not use the Trails or Pump Track when wet. Use the facility in daylight hours only. Follow closure and directional signage. Check Finch Hatton MTB social media pages and the Trails page for the latest track conditions and updates.

SNAKES

Snakes are an ever-present threat in the Finch Hatton area. If you encounter a snake, give it a wide berth and do not try to hurt it in any way. Seek medical attention if required.

MOBILE PHONE RECEPTION

Mobile phone reception is patchy in some areas. You should not rely on being able to obtain mobile phone reception at all times in all locations.

FOOD & WATER

It is encouraged you carry water and any necessary food supplies with you while you ride. Water is available at the Trailhead.

Food and beverage outlets, bike hire and other supporting services can be found in the Finch Hatton town centre and surrounding towns.

Your conduct

RIDE ON OPEN TRAILS ONLY

Respect trail and road closures and avoid trespassing on private land. The way you ride will influence trail management decisions and policies.

LEAVE NO TRACE

Take your rubbish home or put it in a bin. Consider washing your bike prior to entering and when leaving the trails. A basic bike washdown facility is available at the Trailhead.

TRAIL AWARENESS

Be sensitive to the dirt beneath you. Recognise the different types of soils and trail construction and practice low-impact cycling. Wet and muddy or dry and dusty trails are more vulnerable to damage. When the trail bed is soft, consider other riding options. Stay on existing trails and do not create new ones. Don’t cut switchbacks.

If there’s a problem on the trails, report it by calling 1300 622 529.

CONSIDER FELLOW RIDERS

Take turns and ride respectfully. On the trails, let your fellow riders know you’re coming. A friendly greeting is considerate and works well when overtaking another rider. Be visible and do not stop in unsafe areas.

NEVER SCARE ANIMALS

All animals are startled by an unannounced approach, a sudden movement, or a loud noise. This can be dangerous for you, others, and the animals. Give animals extra room and time to adjust to you. Respect our trails, fauna and the environment.
