A Trailblazing Year in the Tropics

The 21st April marked one full year since we officially launched Finch Hatton MTB and what a ride it’s been. In just 12 months, our rainforest-wrapped network has racked countless trail rides from locals riding before work to travellers chasing new terrain, it’s been awesome to see so many of you rolling through Finch Hatton.

When we think back to opening day, it still gives us goosebumps. Over 2,000 people turned up to help us celebrate, and the energy was off the charts. There were trail demos, local MTB crews in town, food trucks, music and a whole lot of grins. It was more than just a launch… it was the start of something special.

Opening Day 2024

Since then, the trails have taken on a life of their own. According to our caretakers, the most ridden trail so far is Tasty Fig, and we get why. It’s a super accessible blue run, all 1100 metres are fun and flowy, with just enough spice to keep it interesting no matter your skill level.

Meanwhile, on Trailforks, Chuck a Sickie, with the black run scoring 82.5/100 and quickly becoming a go-to for those chasing a fast, playful run with plenty of adrenaline-factor.

We’ve loved watching the community grow, the stoke build, and seeing Finch Hatton pop up on MTB bucket lists across the country. It’s been a big year and we’re only just getting started.

Next up? Stage 2. More climbs, more descents, more rainforest goodness. It’s all part of the long-term vision to turn Finch Hatton into a world-class mountain biking destination. More to come on this soon.

We’re seriously proud of what we’ve built, but even more proud of the crew who ride it, support it, and share the stoke. Thanks for being part of the journey so far. Year one has been wild. But the next chapter is going to be even better.

Catch you on the trails. 🤙
